maintenance of home costs
by: Gabriel Heiser

No fees or costs associated with the maintenance of the exempt home may be deducted from the income of the Medicaid recipient in determining what portion of that income must be paid to the nursing home. However, with a married couple in certain cases such expenses may increase the amount of income that may be shifted from the nursing home spouse to the at-home spouse.
